working of "Air Conditioning" using Cooling Pads:-
Water is continuously circulated over and through the pad cells during operation. A pump transports water from a sump through a filter and to a distribution pipe along the top of each pad. A gutter collects unevaporated water that drains from the bottom of each pad. Water can be recycled as long as salt or minerals do not collect noticeably on the pads.
Only part of the water flowing over the pad material is evaporated. Water temperature does not have a great effect on the cooling achieved. Recommended minimum water flow rates through vertically-mounted pads and sump capacities are listed .
The excess water that is collected from the pad should be screened to remove pad fibers and other debris before the water is returned to the sump . A 50-mesh inclined screen mounted below the return flow is generally effective. Install removable caps on the ends of water distribution pipes to allow for bi-monthly flushing and convenient access.
The salt and mineral concentrations of water in a pad system increase as water evaporates. If the mineral content of the water supply is high, a bleed-off system is essential to prevent mineral deposits in the pad.

Pads are cellulose cooling cells 4" (10 cm) and 6" (15 cm) deep, 12"(30 cm) and 24" (60 cm) wide and available in 12" (30 cm) increments from 24"(60 cm) to 72" tall with two pieces of 4"(10 cm) deep combined to make 84"(214 cm) and 96"(244 cm) tall pads. Al they are available 78" (198 cm) tall. The cooling cells are made from a specially formulated cellulose paper impregnated with insoluble anti-rot salts. It is designed with an exclusive cross-fluted configuration which induces highly turbulent mixing inside the pad between the water and the air, and contributes to the evaporative efficiency. The cross-fluted design makes pads a strong self-supporting pad with high evaporative efficiency and low pressure drop (resistance to air flow).

A face velocity of 250 feet(75 m) per minute for 4"(10 cm) and 400 feet(120 m) per minute for 6"(15 cm) is recommended for the most economical cost and operation.

Besides the cooling pads, other components of interest in a complete evaporative cooling system include water distribution and return systems.

Heat Recovery System

Throughout the cooling season, the system works to cool and dehumidify the incoming, outside air. This is accomplished by the system simply taking the rejected heat and sending it into the exhaust airstream. Sequentially, this air cools the condenser coil at a lower temperature than if the rejected heat had not entered the exhaust airstream. During the heating seasons, the system works in reverse. Instead of discharging the heat into the exhaust airstream, the system draws heat from the exhaust airstream in order to pre-heat the incoming air. At this stage, the air passes through a primary unit and then into a space. With this type of system, it is normal, during the cooling seasons, for the exhaust air to be cooler than the ventilation air and, during the heating seasons, warmer than the ventilation air. It is this reason the system works very efficiently and effectively. The co-efficient of performance (COP) will increase as the conditions become more extreme .

Energy recovery ventilation (ERV) is the energy recovery process of exchanging the energy contained in normally exhausted building or space air and using it to treat (precondition) the incoming outdoor ventilation air in residential and commercial HVAC systems. During the warmer seasons, the system pre-cools and dehumidifies while humidifying and pre-heating in the cooler seasons. The benefit of using energy recovery is the ability to meet the ventilation & energy standards, while improving indoor air quality and reducing total HVAC equipment capacity.
